My aim as Vice President of Student Issues is to speak not only for you but WITH you. I want to take your concerns and your issues at more than just face value. It's this reason that I've created the "Red Book" idea. Throughout this campaigning week I will have a hard copy notebook that I want to fill with YOUR issues. I want to speak with the student's here at King's and find out what it is that YOU want from the KUCSC next year. If elected the 2015/16 VP Student issues this book will not just be a symbol of campaigning, but will stay on my desk and be referred to until the end of my term. It will serve as not only a symbol of student's issues here at King's but as a constant reminder that everyone has a unique outlook on life as a King's students, each difference just as important as the next.
If you haven't had a chance to find me on campus and write in The Red Book but wish to add your input then please send it to me by following the link below.

Below is a detailed list of things I would like to change/accomplish if voted Vice President of Student Issues.
Stay tuned for more ideas ....
1)Full review of King’s Awareness Weeks.
I want to know what events King’s students find effective, and what we can do better! As a Student Outreach Commissioner this year on KUCSC, I was able to see first hand the awareness weeks and thus understand how we can improve them to appeal to the diverse population we are lucky enough to have. My goal is to have increased awareness weeks with innovative events in order to increase the knowledge of specific issues pertaining to King’s students.
2)Strengthen and empower Faculty Representatives!
The Faculty Representatives speak on behalf of students in their subject area. I want to foster effective communication between KUCSC, the Faculty Representatives, and most importantly the students they are representing! Better communication will lead to better events, and a better representation of King’s students’ voices and opinions! I plan to accomplish this through
3) Be present and reachable.
I strive to be approachable to ensure that the King’s Community is comfortable speaking to me about Issues that are affecting them. I want to be trusted to not only hear concerns from the student body, but also trusted to take them seriously and take action on students behalf in order to enhance their overall student experience.
4)Constant Communication with students.
I want to spend as much time as possible being with students and hearing about their King’s experience! Constant feedback will lead to better events and better awareness to issues that Students are most passionate about!
5)More accessible Mental Health supports.
What we have is great, I want to make sure King’s knows it. Specifically, I am interested in reviewing the current Mental Health Services and working with the Chief Communications Officer to better advertise and promote them to King’s Students! I want to better utilize Jack.orgKing’s and support their efforts to open healthy discussion about mental health.
6)Speaker Series.
If elected I want to continue to strive for 2-3 main speakers during the academic year! I saw such a success in the current VP student Issues’ objectives with the series and wish to shadow it. I plan to continue to work with Huron and Brescia to bring quality speaks to Campus. I will encourage and Support Faculty Representatives in bringing different speakers geared to their specific faculties as well.
7)Work with Head Soph and Programming Assistants during and after Orientation Week.
There are many responsibilities and roles that the Head Soph Team takes on, as VP Student Issues, I plan to keep connections with the team as they influence and educate first year students. I want to offer support to the team as well as the first year students to encourage a positive relationship between students and VP Student Issues from the start!
8)Promote the various support groups to First Year Students by unifying their efforts.
The transition to university is a big adjustment and the King’s community offers many supports for first year students, and transfer students. Through Sophs, OC Dons, Kamp Mentors, R.A’s, and International Peer Guide’s students can receive advice, support, mentorship, and network opportunities! I have seen, by speaking to students, that while all of these supports are great, the lack of fluidity leaves students falling between the cracks! If elected, I will bring all these great supports together, as a single first year committee, with first year representatives, to fill all gaps and provide the best first year student experience.
9) Equal Opportunties for ALL students.
Every Student at King’s is valued and deserves to be a part of King’s in their desired capacity. I understand that financial burden has taken many opportunities away from students interested in joining clubs or going to KUCSC sponsored events. I don’t believe that money should be a factor that restricts some students from enjoying the events and opportunities that KUCSC has to offer! If elected, I will allocate funds to support students looking to join clubs or go to events that they cannot financially afford. This compensation, dealt discreetly, will protect individual’s identity while allowing all students to participate in events or clubs, barrier free!
10) Accessible Clubs Policy
I want to completely revamp the current system to ensure that all clubs are fully supported! I will eliminate current barriers that prevent clubs from forming and from successfully utilizing KUCSC resources. I plan to do this by continuing by connections with Brescia, Huron, and Western for ideas and resources to create a Club's system that fully supports individual clubs and increases communication, accountability, and resource sharing!
